How to Launch a Motherhood
Later…..Than Sooner Chapter in Your Town
Finding Members
Besides listing your group on our site, your group appears on
Meetup.com and Yahoo Groups to help you grow your membership,
communicate with members and organize events.
Here are some other things you can
do to publicize your group:
1. Make a flyer.
Download a sample flyer (Word
doc format)
2. Send an invitation. Invite
friends, colleagues, family members or acquaintances to an informal
evening discussion so you can talk about the idea of forming a group
and determine the level of interest.
3. Network. One of the quickest
ways to get a group going is to invite one or two 35+ friends with
young children and ask them to bring along an age appropriate friend.
4. Post info on the web. Places like
Craigslist.com will allow you to announce an event for free. There are
also family oriented websites that accept such information, i.e.
gocitykids.com. Also, see if there are any yahoogroups.com or
Meetup.com groups in your town for moms, that you might join for free
and promote your group.
5. Contact local press. Most local
newspapers, including parenting publications, invite you to submit
calendar listing items, once you have planned your first event. You
might even consider submitting a press release announcing the launch of
your group, and if you’re lucky, they may print it as a news
item.
